The Season It All Comes Full Circle: SS ‘17 Trend Spotlight

The under-the-radar trend you need to know this season:circular hardware. It may sound completely unheard of, but let me explain. This seemingly subtle trend has trickled their way down from the runway down to the high street fashion market. Nail this trend & add a little low-key je nais se quois to your style.

I think the circular hardware trend is on par with other feminine trends for the season including ruffles, lace & the coveted dusty rose hue. Circular hardware on handbags is a bit softer on the eye than traditional structured angles. I’m on board with this trend, keep reading to see my favorite ways to rock it.

I. Handbags

Circular handles have been spotted all over the runways. Chloe is most famous for their circular hardware in their bags. Givenchy, Giorgio Armani, and Louis Vuitton all featured handbags with similar handles in their 2017 collections. You can get the look for less though, because if you're anything like me, you can't afford to splurge like that.

II. Apparel

I love grommet details in clothing, it’s the easiest way to add a dash of sex appeal without being overpowering. Zippers with circle toggles have a retro feel, but is modernized in athleisure pieces like tracksuit jackets. The lace-up trend is still going strong, but I’ve seen these grommets appearing more in crisp, modern pieces this year. The trend started in the realms of festival fashion, but see some modernized adaptations below.

III. Accessories

Cinch it up with a corset belt this summer, or pull out your Ozzy Shades. In jewelry, you will see O-ring chokers, and lariat necklaces with circular details. You could also try a belt like the one I’m wearing, from Asos, which will accentuate the waist for a fail-proof flattering addition to any look.

This trend is one that I picked up on, it’s not being promoted so blatantly in magazines because it’s a little weird to brand “circles.” Anyways, would love to hear your thoughts on this & if you agree! Disclaimer: I am not advocating polka-dots, I really hate polka-dots. Let me know how you're gonna wear this trend this summer!
